With a 13,000 crore rupee budget, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday unveiled the PM Vishwakarma Yojana for traditional artisans and craftspeople. Additionally, he opened the first phase of the cutting-edge “Yashobhumi” India International Convention and Expo Centre in Dwarka.
According to Modi, “Today, I dedicate ‘Yashobhumi’ to every worker, every ‘Vishwakarma’ of the country.” He made it clear that the government cherishes and is aware of the contributions made by ordinary citizens.
In order to help the workers covered by this programme, Modi also produced 18 bespoke stamp sheets representing 18 traditional trades as part of the introduction of the Vishwakarma Yojana.
The Vishwakarma Yojana’s goal is to expand the availability and quality of the goods and services provided by traditional craftsmen andas well as artisans. The programme offers 1 lakh rupee (first installment for 18 months) and 2 lakh rupee (second installment for 30 months) interest-free business development loans.
A 5% interest rate subsidy and an 8% reduction on credit guarantee costs will also be given to recipients. The IICC in “Yashobhumi” will grow to be the largest MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) facility in the world, with a total project area of over 8.9 lakh square metres and a developed area of more than 1.8 lakh square metres.
